Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 26, 2026
Backtask is developed and operated by Bitzag LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains what data Backtask collects and how it is handled.
The short version: we don’t collect anything. Backtask has no accounts and no logins, your data stays on your own devices, and we operate no servers that store or receive your information. We never sell your data and we don’t use it to train AI models.
1. Data Stored on Your Device
The tasks and categories you create in Backtask — including their titles, notes, schedules, and completion history — are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data stays on your device and in your own iCloud account; it is never transmitted to us.
2. iCloud Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, Backtask keeps your tasks in sync across your own Apple devices using Apple’s CloudKit service. This syncing happens entirely between your devices through your personal iCloud account. We do not operate the iCloud infrastructure, we have no access to your iCloud data, and none of it ever reaches our servers.
For details on how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
3. Information We Do Not Collect
Backtask does not collect or store:
- Account credentials, email addresses, or login information — there are none
- The titles, notes, schedules, or completion history of your tasks
- Advertising identifiers or location data
- Usage analytics or crash reports from the app
The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks of any kind.
4. Payments
Backtask offers an optional paid subscription, sold and billed through Apple’s App Store. All payments are processed entirely by Apple. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, billing address, or Apple account. For details, see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
5. This Website
Our marketing website (backtask.app) uses Google Analytics, a web-analytics service from Google, to understand aggregate traffic — for example, how many people visit and which pages they view. Google Analytics sets cookies and may process information such as your IP address, browser, device, and the pages you visit. We use this only for aggregate insight into how the site is used; we do not use it to identify individual visitors, and it applies to the website only — the Backtask app itself contains no analytics. You can opt out through your browser settings or Google’s opt-out browser add-on; see Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data. Our web server also keeps standard access logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for a limited time to operate the site securely and guard against abuse.
6. Third-Party Services
Backtask relies on the following third-party services:
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — for syncing your data across your own devices
- Apple App Store — for app distribution and subscription payment processing
- Google Analytics — for understanding aggregate traffic on this website only (see “This Website” above)
Each service is governed by its own privacy policy. Beyond the website analytics described above, we do not share your data with any other third parties — your tasks never leave your devices.
7. Data Security
Because your data never leaves your devices and your iCloud account, its security in transit and at rest is handled by Apple as part of iCloud. Our website is served over HTTPS (TLS encryption). No system is ever 100% secure, but we hold none of your personal data on our own systems.
8. Children’s Privacy
Backtask is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since Backtask requires no account and collects no personal data, there is generally no children’s data to manage.
9. Your Rights
Because Backtask stores your data only on your own device and in your own iCloud account, you have full control over it at all times. You can view, edit, or delete any task or category directly within the app, and you can remove all data by deleting the app and clearing its iCloud data through your iCloud settings.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA, such as the right to access or delete personal data. Because we do not collect or hold your personal data, in most cases there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. If you have any questions, contact us at support@bitzag.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Backtask after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
